Look Great in the Texas Heat 

Every summer, Dallas has at least one heat wave. To help you beat the heat and look great doing it, here are five fashion tips.

1. Choose the right fabrics. Cotton, linen, silk, and georgette are your friends when the temperatures soar. Spandex can be flattering and is often found in capris and tops, but it doesn't breathe well, which means that it's more likely to raise your core temperature.
2. Pick the right colors. It's no secret that darker colors absorb more heat. However, far too often people are tempted to wear an outfit that features a dark print to hide sweat stains; unfortunately, this tactic will often make you sweat more. Instead, choose lighter colors such as off-white, light blue, and mint for classic summer looks. 
3. Wear a flattering style. Everyone sweats. Fortunately, there are certain styles that will hide this natural reaction. For example, women can choose dresses that feature spaghetti straps or sleeveless options. Men should wear shirts that have hidden air vents in the sides or underarm areas. Both men and women can stay cool wearing shorts. 
4. Don't forget about the AC. When dressing to impress in the Dallas summer heat, it's important to remember that most places will have the ac blasting. With this in mind, a silk scarf is often a lady's best accessory. It can easily be thrown into your bag and can be worn in a number of styles.
5. Footwear is critical to staying cool. Put away the booties (unless they have air vents) until the fall, and choose a wedge, sandal, or breathable sneaker. When your feet are cool, your body naturally stays cooler.
