Do you love ordering couscous when you spot it on the menus at restaurants? Then, maybe it's time to learn how to cook this dish, which is a staple in many North African countries, including Morocco and Tunisia, and also in Israel. You might be surprised at how easy it is to fix this delicious dish. Here, we offer a basic recipe and two variations.
Three-Ingredient Basic Couscous
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups couscous
- 2 3/4 cups chicken broth (or water)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
- Add the liquid to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Sprinkle in salt and stir.
- Remove from heat.
- Add the couscous.
- Let the couscous sit for approximately five minutes (It needs time to absorb the liquid).
- Fluff with a fork and serve.
Toasted Couscous
For this tasty variation, you can use the basic recipe above, but you will just need to toast your couscous before adding liquid.
Directions:
- Melt one or two tablespoons of butter in a saucepan (you can also use olive oil).
- Stir in the couscous and cook until it is nicely toasted.
- Add liquid and cook as directed in the basic recipe above.

Oranges are often considered to be a winter fruit. But why? All that citrus goodness should be enjoyed year-round, and fortunately, you can purchase them all year long. So, feel free to add oranges to the fruits you like to enjoy in your Edgewater apartment or elsewhere during the spring and summer months. And here, we provide you with different ways you can do so (because eating them isn't the only way they can be used and enjoyed).
Get a Little More Nutrition and Immunity Boost for Longer Days
When it comes to nutrition, it doesn't get much better than oranges. They are loaded with all the nutrients you need for long, active summer days. They are full of fiber, vitamin C, thiamine, folate, and potassium — just the stuff to replenish you.
Freshen Up Your Homemade Summer Drinks
Add oranges to your iced teas, your alcoholic beverages, your slushies, or just about anything else you like to drink during the summer.
Brighten up Your Apartment
Orange is a fun, vibrant, stimulating summer color. It's reminiscent of orange flowers in bloom and the sun at noon. So, while you wait to eat your orange sliced up for a snack in the afternoon, keep several in a pretty bowl in the center of your table. They'll brighten up any room and go with just about any decor.
Make Cleaning Green and Delightful to Your Senses
Green cleaning is the thing now, and vinegar is the fundamental source of all green cleaning. But it doesn't smell pleasant, and during the warm months, the smell is only exacerbated. Lemons are often the thing that people use to hide the smell of the vinegar and to add extra cleaning power. But oranges can be used, too. In fact, eat your orange first and then slice up the peels and place them in a jar with white vinegar. Let the peels sit overnight to infuse. Then, drain the liquid and use the peels in your compost.
Oranges Are for All Seasons
It was said already, but it deserves saying again: Oranges can be purchased year-round, so why not buy a bag? Sure, there are many other fruits you want to enjoy during the summer, but oranges align well with long summer afternoons filled with sunshine.
So go ahead, add some oranges to your summer palate, summer decor and summer cleaning in your apartment in Edgewater, New Jersey. Feel free to contact us to learn more about how to enjoy apartment living — oranges and all — during the summer.

It's that time of year when the sun starts shining a little brighter and the days last a lot longer. Spring is in the air at our Dallas, TX apartments, and we want to honor the newness this season brings with recipes that impart the powerful flavors of fresh fruit.
Fresh Apricot Crisp
Let's start with dessert first, shall we? Apricots are spring and summer's fuzzy friends. Their notable sweetness makes them perfect for after-entree eats. Although many desserts take a lot of prep time, this recipe only requires a few ingredients, and your oven will do most of the work.
Banana Oatmeal Pancakes
Saturday morning breakfast never tasted so good! Whip up these hearty flapjacks, and you'll start your day with a full belly that'll fuel you for many hours.
Kiwi Salsa
Are you entertaining guests? Heading to a potluck? Simply looking for an interesting way to pump up the volume on your favorite poultry or fish dish? Kiwi salsa highlights the insatiable taste of the awesome green kiwi fruit and can be used on a plethora of edible items. You can easily make it the night before so it's ready to bolster the flavor of the next day's entrees.
Steak Marinade With Fresh-Squeezed Lemons
The spring season signifies grill season, and in Texas, that means it's time to get your steaks ready. While good meat is great all by itself, sometimes it's nice to add a bit of zest to your flavor palate. A steak marinade that encompasses fresh-squeezed lemon juice screams "spring!" in a way that's subtle enough for even the most discerning of steak eaters to appreciate.
Pork Tenderloin Medallions With Strawberry Sauce
One can never get too many strawberries, right? While this season's famous fruit finds its way into cocktails and desserts aplenty, this pork dish gives any other entree a run for its money.
Fresh Pineapple Mojito
Muddled mint has certainly made a name for itself as far as cocktails are concerned. If you've never thought of adding it to chunks of fresh pineapple, now's your time to branch out!
Are you ready to enjoy everything awesome that happens when springtime rolls around in Dallas? We're ready to show you all the wonderful amenities our South Side Flats community has to offer! Stop by so we can show you around!

Game night is great fun for everyone, especially if you have the right snacks on hand. But who wants to be tied to the kitchen while the action is happening? These crowd-friendly recipes are easy to prepare and will have everyone convinced you were cooking over the stove all day.
Mini Meatball Subs
For this recipe, you’ll need a Crock-Pot. If it isn’t your favorite kitchen appliance, this recipe is one of the reasons it soon will be.
Ingredients:
- 1 family-sized bag of meatballs
- 2 jars of your favorite brand of spaghetti sauce
- 2 packages of mini sub rolls (or more depending on the size of your crowd)
- 2 packages of sliced provolone cheese
Dump the meatballs and spaghetti sauce in the Crock-Pot about four hours before guests arrive and have delicious sandwiches ready to serve by halftime, intermission, etc.
If your crowd is larger, you may want to make two servings, but you’ll need two Crock-Pots for that tall task.
Honey BBQ Popcorn Chicken
Easy and delicious. Who could ask for more? For this recipe, you’ll need a large bag of frozen popcorn chicken, (or two), and your favorite honey BBQ sauce. Heat the chicken according to package directions. Warm BBQ sauce in a medium saucepan. Coat the chicken in the BBQ sauce and serve!
Chicken Taco Dip
This is another great crowd-pleaser that’s easy to prepare. This one requires a little more effort and work than the others, but is worth every second.
Ingredients:
- 1 brick of cream cheese
- 1 packet of taco seasoning
- 1 can of cream of chicken soup
- 1 can of shredded chicken breast (drained)
- 1 bag of shredded cheddar jack cheese (reserve half for topping)
- 1 bag of Tostitos or Fritos Scoops
Soften cream cheese in a medium-size mixing bowl. You want it soft enough that it’s easy to stir. Add all other ingredients (except the half bag of cheddar jack cheese you reserved). Stir well, then microwave for about two minutes. Stir well again and see if you need to microwave another minute or two. Pour into serving bowl, top with remaining cheese and serve with your Scoops.
These delicious snacks are sure to please your hungry crowd on game night without making you stuck in the kitchen. Enjoy!
